Weekly Music Discovery

So, the other day while browsing through YouTube (I was taking a break from my math homework) I discovered a beautiful and amazing song! This discovery led me to the idea of doing a weekly post, where I share some of my musical discoveries from the past week. Being the music LOVER that I am, I tend to find some awesome songs or wonderful bands or Artists. I'm still thinking of a catchy name to this musical meme, so for now I'll leave it as "Weekly Music Discovery".

1. I See You by Mika

Have you ever heard a song for the fist time and found yourself falling in love with it, right then and there? Because that is EXACTLY what happened to me when I heard this incredible song! The way that I discovered this song was by checking out the videos in my sub box. One of my subscriptions uploaded a multi-fandom video using this song and I was simply left in awe. The first time that I heard a song from Mika was last year and  the song was Lollipop. Now, if you heard that song before, then I'm sure you would have been as shocked as I was when I listened to this song. It is COMPLETELY different from other songs by Mika, which are usually upbeat and catchy. This song is from a whole different level. It's emotional, raw, truthful, and beautiful!

God.. the lyrics give me goosebumps. They perfectly illustrate the tension and emotions that a person endures when they are falling in love with someone. Especially when those emotions are unknown and a fear develops within the heart because that person is so scared of letting the one they care so much about, know how they truly feel about them.

I'm sitting across from you
I'm dreaming of the things I'd do
I don't speak, you don't know me at all

For fear of what you might do
I say nothing
But stare at you
And I'm dreaming, I'm tripping over you

Truth be told, my problem's old
You mean the world to me but you'll never know
You could be cruel to me
Why go risking the way that I see you
That I see you, that I see you, that I see you, that I see you, that I see you"

Conversation's not me at all
I'm hesitating, only to fall
And I'm weighted, I'm hating everyone

Could it be...you feel for me?
In any possible similarity
If it's so, how would I know?
You'll never know me at all...

But I see you ...
But I see u... (Choeurs)
I'm standing across from you
I've dreamt alone now the dreams won't do

(Partie instrumentale)

Truth be told, my problem's old
You mean the world to me, but you'll never know
You could be cruel to me
Why go risking the way that I see you

That I see you...

I'm standing across from you
I've dreamt alone now the dreams won't do

But i see you, but I see you, but I see you...

This song touched my heart so much that it even inspired me to create a video for one of my all time favorite couples: Go Mi Nam and Hyun Tae Kyung <3

Which if you don't know who they are... then all I have to say is that you HAVE to watch the Korean Drama You're Beautiful. It's wicked awesome! Although I have to admit, it does get a bit cheesy now and then  ^_^  but  It has EVERYTHING! Comedy, Tension, Romance, Anticipation!!!

I really believe that I See You is the perfect song to describe Go Mi Nam and Hyung Tae Kyung.

I don't know when I'll make this video, but it's definitely on my to do list! :)

2. Waves of Change by Samantha James

If you've ever watched a Michelle Phan tutorial, then you know that she was quite the chill-out and sophisticated (with a hint of lounge) musical taste. Some of the songs that she has used in  a few of her videos are by Samantha James. I decided to check out some of Samantha James songs on YouTube and I discovered this wonderful song!

I LOVE the ambient and laid-back feel of this song. It really reminds me of Oceanlab and the song I Remember by Kaskade.

We can dim the light of day
watching colors drift away
Fleeting like the sound of love
reflecting light back to the sun

Listen as the silence plays

washing darkness from the shade

Standing on the center stage

building castles in the rain

Be my strength

Show me the way

Come to life

Come and feel the sun (come and feel the sun)

Lift your hands, embrace

Breaking waves of change

Counting down to higher days

Consciously we elevate

Blowing all the dust away

Speaking truth to those who wait

Be my strength

Show me the way

Come to life

Come and feel the sun (come and feel the sun)

Lift your hands, embrace

Breaking waves of change

I can hear your calling

from the distant plain

'cause in this moment I feel love

I can feel you falling

miles from yesterday

'cause in this moment we are loved
nobody here is lonely
Nobody here is lonely

Come to life

Come and feel the sun (come and feel the sun)

Lift your hands, embrace

Breaking waves of change

3. Remember The Name by Fort Minor

I've never heard any other song by Fort Minor except Where'd You Go, which I assume many other people who've heard of Fort Minor can agree. So when I heard this song, I was quite surprised. I LIKE IT! :)

I stumbled upon this song while checking out a few fanmade trailers for The Hunger Games (Which I have to say, I FINALLY BOUGHT MYSELF A COPY! So MANY of you book bloggers have been getting on my ass for not reading the series yet! In fact... well... I bought the trilogy in a box set! I figured if I'm going to read the first one, I should have the rest of the books in the series! I can not wait to start reading the books!)

[Mike]
You ready? Lets go!
Yeah, for those of you who want to know what we`re all about
It`s like this y`all (c`mon!)

[Chorus]
This is ten percent luck,
Twenty percent skill,
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will,
Five percent pleasure,
Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

[Mike]
Mike
He doesn`t need his name up in lights
He just wants to be heard whether it`s the beat or the mic
He feels so unlike everybody else, alone
In spite of the fact that some people still think that they know him
But fuck em`
He knows the code:
It`s not about the salary
It`s about reality and making some noise
Makin' a story
Makin sure his clique stays up
That means when he puts it down, Tak`s pickin it up!
(Let`s go!)

[Tak]
Who the hell is he anyway?
He never really talks much
Never concerned with status but still leavin them star struck
Humbled through opportunities given despite the fact
That many mis judge him because he makes a livin from writin raps
Put it together himself, now the picture connects
Never askin for someone`s help, and get some respect
He`s only focused on what he wrote, his will is beyond reach
And now when it all unfolds, the skill of an artist

[Ryu]
This is twenty percent skill
Eighty percent fear
Be one hundred percent clear, 'cause Ryu is ill
Who would`ve thought that he`d be the one to set the west in flames
Then I heard him wreckin with The Crystal Method, "The Name Of The Game"
Came back dropped Megadef, took 'em to church
I like bleach man, Ryu had the stupidest verse
This dude is the truth, now everybody givin him guest spots
His stock`s through the roof I heard he fuckin with S-Dot!

[Chorus]
It`s just ten percent luck,
Twenty percent skill,
Fiftteen percent concentrated power of will,
Five percent pleasure,
Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred perecnt reason to remember the name!

[Ryu]
They call him Ryu he's sick
And he`s spittin' fire and Mike
Got him out the dryer he`s hot
Found him in Fort Minor with Tak
What a fuckin' nihilist porcupine
He`s a prick, he`s a cock
The type woman want to be with
And rappers hope he get shot
Eight years in the makin`
Patiently waitin to blow
Now the record with Shinoda`s takin over the globe
He`s got a partner in crime, his shit is equally dope
You wont believe the kind of shit that comes out of this kid`s throat

[Tak]
Tak
He`s not your everyday on the block
He knows how to work with what he's got
Makin his way to the top
He often gets a comment on his name
People keep askin him, was it given at birth,
Or does it stand for an acronym?
No. He`s livin' proof,
Got him rockin the booth
He`ll get you buzzin quicker than a shot of vodka with juice (juice)
Him and his crew are known around as one of the best
Dedicated to what they do n give a hundred percent!

[Mike]
Forget Mike
Nobody really knows how or why he works so hard
It seems like he`s never got time
Because he writes every note, and he writes every line
And I`ve seen him at work when that light goes on in his mind
It`s like a design is written in his head every time
Before he even touches a key or speaks in a rhyme
And those motherfuckers he runs with the kids that he signed?
Ridiculous, without even trying, how do they do it?!

[Chorus]
This is ten percent luck,
Twenty percent skill,
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will,
Five percent pleasure,
Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

This is ten percent luck,
Twenty percent skill,
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will,
Five percent pleasure,
Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

[Outro - Mike]
Yeah! Fort Minor!
M. Shinoda, Styles of Beyond!
Ryu, Takbir!
Machine Shop!

So this wraps up this week's musical discoveries!

I hope you enjoy the music! :)
